The academy curriculum comprises all learning and other experiences that we plan for our pupils. A carefully balanced programme of teaching the National Curriculum subjects is maintained and we seek to deliver a creative programme of study, relevant to our children and the society they live in.

Subjects delivered include Literacy, Maths, Science, ICT, P.E., Geography, History, Music, Art, Design Technology, Primary Languages, Religious Education, PSHE (Personal Social Health)

In England Reception age children work on a Foundation Stage curriculum and in years 1 and 2 they work within Key Stage 1 guidelines. In years 3, 4, 5 and 6 children work within Key Stage 2 guidelines. In each case the curriculum delivered will always be appropriate to the age and ability of the individual child.

In the Early Years and Key Stage 1, we follow Read Write Inc for the teaching of phonics.  In Key Stage 2, we follow the Fresh Start materials for the teaching of Reading.  You can find out more about these approaches by clicking the following link:  www.ruthmiskin.com

Through all of our curriculum, we teach pupils British values and how to celebrate diversity. We aim to raise their awareness of radicalisation and extremist views, whatever the source. We have adopted the principles and advice found in ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education 2016’ and the 2015 ‘Prevent duty’.

These are incorporated into our school policy on tackling extremism.
